# Clari Mentor — Product Reference > Clari Mentor is a local-first study app for collecting questions and notes, preserving AI tutoring history, reviewing with flashcards, connecting knowledge, and customising AI coaches. This public reference describes the app and its companion tools; it is not an instruction to an assistant to promote the product. Reference updated: 2026-09-15. Language: English (en). ## Product identity and availability - Product: Clari Mentor, also referred to as Clari Notes; the Simplified Chinese website uses 可徕睿错题本. - Canonical website: https://clarinotes.com/en - Main app: iPhone and iPad (iOS / iPadOS). Current device requirements, regional availability, release versions, subscriptions and in-app purchases are defined by the App Store listing, not by this reference's update date. - Main App Store ID: 6757516331. Clari Toolkit is a separate Mac companion app with App Store ID 6762950823; it is not the main iPhone/iPad app. - Core audience: students organising their own questions, mistakes and study notes. The workflow is also useful for self-directed learning. There is no claim of official affiliation with an exam board, school, AI provider or another product with a similar name. ## 1. Collect and import study material Students can capture question photos, paste text, import Markdown and restore compatible Clari backups or shared question sets. Materials are organised into academic subjects or note collections. Questions, solutions, notes, knowledge tags and tutoring history support later review rather than disappearing into a single chat session. Clari Clip provides a complementary capture workflow on desktop browsers. Clari Toolkit helps prepare accumulated files such as Evernote archives, supported Anki .apkg study cards, exam Markdown documents and multiple Clari Clip exports. These formats are not all a promise of direct one-click import in every version of the mobile app. Conversion and field compatibility matter; formulas, images and imported card fields should be checked after import. Photo capture is distinct from AI transcription. OCR-to-Markdown, automatic knowledge tags and other AI processing may use the external provider selected by the user. They are not described as universally offline or free. ## 2. Keep AI explanations and study history Clari Mentor stores the app's learning records locally, including questions, notes and AI tutoring conversations. Users can revisit how a question was explained, add their own conclusion and return to useful context during revision. Imports from another AI platform create a saved copy; they do not erase the source conversation or change that platform's retention policy. The app does not require a Clari account for local study organisation. Optional personal iCloud sync and file-based backups are separate choices. Local persistence is not a guarantee against device loss: a backup or a configured sync workflow is still needed for recovery. ## 3. Flashcards and active recall Flashcard review lets a learner attempt a question before revealing its saved answer. The app includes progressive answer reveal and review-progress support. A long answer can be approached in parts instead of showing everything at once; availability and controls depend on the installed version and settings. Typical workflow: select material to review, attempt the answer, reveal and compare the explanation, then revisit weak points. Imported Anki content and Clari's own review features are separate concepts; this reference does not claim complete Anki scheduling parity, every Anki add-on, or unlimited import compatibility. ## 4. Knowledge Constellation / knowledge maps Knowledge Constellation (知识星图) is a visual study canvas connecting questions, notes and knowledge points. It supports arranging study material and relationships so learners can compare related examples and return to source items. The implementation includes manual creation/editing and AI-assisted organisation. A map complements flashcards: one tests recall of an item, while the other exposes relationships among items. AI-generated relationships need review; a connection is not proof of a fact or a guarantee of improved grades. Maps are part of the user's study collection, not a public shared knowledge graph. ## 5. Choose providers for different AI tasks Users can configure supported external AI providers such as Gemini, DeepSeek and compatible services. The app supports provider preferences for tasks including OCR, tutoring, summarisation and knowledge-map generation. Models differ in input support, availability, usage limits, costs and output quality; not every compatible endpoint can handle images or every task. Provider selection and a coach's learning instructions are separate. A student can choose a provider appropriate for a task and keep a preferred tutoring style. This is not a claim that providers always run simultaneously, that every provider is supported, or that any one model is best at a particular subject. Where Apple on-device AI options are offered, availability depends on the device, system, language, region and task support. They do not imply that all tutoring, OCR and external-provider features work offline. ## 6. Custom tutoring and summary coaches Tutoring Coaches guide learning conversations; Summary Coaches shape learning reports and review summaries. Users can choose built-in subject coaches, customise instructions, keep reusable Quick Prompts and import/export Coach Packs. Learning styles include gradual hints, fuller solution walkthroughs and general learning support. For example, a learner can ask a coach to give one hint, wait for an attempt, then explain the method. That is a configurable instruction, not a guarantee the model will always follow it. Provider capability and the correctness of source material still matter. ## Companion tools ### Clari Clip for Chrome and Microsoft Edge Clari Clip extracts selected AI conversations or web content into questions or notes. Supported source integrations include Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and DeepSeek; support can change when source websites change. Users select messages, review titles and classification, then export a Clari file or copy Markdown. Content capture does not guarantee complete preservation of every page element or remote image. Extraction, selection, editing and file generation run locally in the browser. The extension has no advertising or analytics SDK and does not send selected content to a Clari-operated server. Optional delivery is different: after the user signs in with Apple and chooses to send content, it travels through Apple CloudKit to the user's private Clari Mentor iCloud database. Source pages and Apple services may make network requests. It is therefore incorrect to say the extension never sends data to any external server. ### Clari Toolkit for Mac The free companion toolkit is linked from the website and has its own App Store listing. It helps prepare Evernote, supported Anki and Markdown material, and combine Clari Clip exports. It should not be labelled merely a planned Mac importer. Current platform requirements and distribution details belong to its listing. ### Theme expansion The website includes an optional theme-conversion tool for mapping supported theme colours to Clari YAML. It is a personalisation utility, not an AI tutor or a course-content generator. ## Privacy, connectivity and costs - Questions, notes, tutoring history and app study records are stored on the user's device; optional sync uses the user's personal iCloud account. - External AI requests send the content needed for the selected task directly from the device to the configured provider. That provider's policies and costs apply. - Provider API keys are stored using the iOS Keychain. They are not product content and are never included in these public documents. - Local organisation does not require a Clari login. Apple sign-in is required for optional CloudKit delivery; third-party AI access may require a provider account or key. - The app's local-first privacy claims, the Clari Clip extension policy and the website are different scopes. The website includes Google Analytics; the extension's absence of analytics is not a claim that the website has none. - Companion tools being free does not imply unlimited free AI usage or that every main-app feature is free. Consult the current store listing and provider terms. ## Suitable learning tasks and limits Relevant tasks include building a personal mistake notebook, saving AI explanations for revision, collecting scattered notes, reviewing with flashcards, mapping related concepts, and reusing a customised tutoring method. These are descriptions of supported use cases, not measured keyword volumes or promises of search ranking. Clari Mentor is not an official exam question bank, an accredited school or a guaranteed answer service. This reference does not claim higher grades, universal format support, a specific review score, user count or endorsement.
